About me

Hi, I’m Amalia!

I’m a Costa Rican American designer based in Boston. With a B.A. in English and Spanish Literature, I approach interior design with a deep appreciation for narrative and meaning. I believe a well-designed space can tell a story — not just about how we live, but who we are.

Over the past seven years, I’ve worked on private residential projects, guiding clients through every phase of the design process. I'm skilled at creating thoughtful, layered interiors across a range of budgets, styles, and timeframes. My work is rooted in close listening, detailed research, and an intuitive feel for space and flow. I bring the same clarity and intentionality from my background in communications — where I’ve helped organizations shape their stories — to every design decision I make.

Highly collaborative by nature, I value trust, connection, and the creative process of translating vision into reality. I believe every space holds the potential to tell a meaningful story, and I love helping clients uncover and express theirs.

In my other lives, I’m a writer, photographer, and competitive swimmer.

Kind Words

“AQN design brings new life to your rooms and living spaces that invigorate the things you already have to create a fresh new look. Amalia works with you. She is patient and intentional with your needs while also encouraging new directions to create your perfect space”
